This is how Leksand runs an unstaffed hockey store in partnership with Sticksonline
Leksand Arena currently has an unstaffed store where players can go in, try on equipment, and either buy it right away or order the right product online after testing it on site.
The result is greater accessibility, fewer mistaken purchases, and a simpler daily routine for both players and the club.
How the solution works
Visitors use their own cell phones to log in with BankID and open the store. Everything is done digitally, without keys or staff.
1.
Scan the QR code
2.
Sign in with BankID
3.
Unlock the door and go in yourself
4.
Try or buy equipment

“Returnsused to be a full-time job—it’s practically nonexistent today.”
The need does not arise during business hours
For a hockey player, the need for equipment rarely comes up on schedule.
A stick breaks during practice.
A shin guard is too small for the game.
Underwear was left at home.
Previously, this meant that you needed:
-
Plan ahead
-
Appointment times
-
Wait until the next fitting appointment
In Leksand, membership renewals took place only a few times a year, often at the same time as membership fees were paid.
An unstaffed store in the arena
At Tegera Arena , Leksands IF together with Sticksonline , created an unstaffed hockey store right inside the arena.
Here, players can:
-
Log in with BankID
-
Unlock and enter
-
Buy or try out equipment
The store is available whenever players are there, not just during regular business hours.
Retail space and showroom
The store serves as both a retail space and a showroom.
Players can:
-
Try out the equipment
-
Try out different models
-
Find the right size and profile
This ensures you get the right equipment right away without taking any chances, while the selection is tailored to the club’s profile with the right colors and logos.
No more returns
In the past, returns were a major part of the job.
Today, that need has essentially disappeared.
By being able to try out equipment before buying:
-
Reduces impulse purchases
-
Saves both time and resources
Simpler financial management for members
In the past, equipment was purchased on specific occasions, often at the same time as other membership fees.
Now, members can instead:
-
Buy when the need arises
-
Spread costs out over the year
This makes planning easier and lowers the barrier to having the right equipment.
The product range is shaped by actual demand
After being open for six months, clear patterns are beginning to emerge in how the store is used.
This is provided by Sticksonline and Leksands IF the opportunity to:
-
See what's actually in demand
-
Recognize when a need arises
-
Adjust the product range accordingly
As a result, the store is not static but evolves continuously based on members’ actual needs, while maintaining a clear and consistent club identity.
A partnership that works in practice
Sticksonline runs the store and curates the product selection.
Leksand Hockey Club:
-
Helps with refilling
-
Provides insights from the business
In addition, in-person visits are held throughout the year where players can receive assistance with fitting.
The result
Players can try on equipment in-store and purchase or order the right size right away, which effectively eliminates the need for returns.
